U! Happy Event at National Children's Hospital

Note: None of these pictures are mine, okay? ...and because I am not too confident about my way of giving credit, I will link you to the album where I got them from. Just to be on the safe side. Ayaw kong ma-Zotto noh.

Two Saturdays ago, my mom's officemate decided to celebrate her birthday by giving out to charity. Not just in the monetary sense, but special effort to sponsor an event for young ones suffering from cancer. That's really selfless of her, don't you think? Three rainbow claps for the lady!

I've been planning an orphanage visit for the last few Christmases that had gone, but thanks to my university schedule, I'm booked with schoolwork even on holidays. So just imagine my delight when I learned that I were to be tagged along to this event!

The first bunch of snapshots can be accessed through this link: Emjay Mirasol Photography

Program briefing
Spot the Fine Arts student! Clue: Paint splatters on jeans.
He told a short story about Putot (I forgot what he said it means, though) -- for the children and volunteers alike!
We were then left to do our own story-telling for the kid we were partnered up with. I got him a book about fireflies!
Hi Xtian (pronounced as Christian, by the way)!!! I wonder how he's doing now...
Pansin ko lang, ang taray pala ng "default face" ko. If I were one of these kids, I'd be bummed if I were assigned to...me. Sheesh, how awkward to be talking like this. HAHAHA

They prepared a little dance presentation!
The first guy's Kuya Harvard, He founded U! Happy Events, I believe. I'll link you to their page at the end of this post

See? Ang sungit ng itsura ko. But all that time, I was singing happy songs in my head while helping him color. Pero sa labas pala mukhang inagawan ko siya ng crayons.
Si Dindo Pundido!

Hi, Joven! Smart kid, this one is. He took the initiative to introduce himself to us right when we were touring ourselves around the wards. I remember him eating puto while telling us about his condition and his stay at the hospital. Cutie!

Back in highschool, I actually considered pursuing a career on preschool education (doesn't sound right, hope you get my point). But after this stint, I came to realize how fortunate I am to have not given in to that thought. I mean, honestly, I am one to play favorites. Hahaha. Wish I could apply Immanuel Kant's philosophy about "disinterestedness" on this matter. Naks nai-singit ang Art Theory lesson sa blog, congrats! Just in case you've never come across that topic yet, it's generally about looking at things without biased thoughts. Elimination of any prejudice or whatsoever. (To experience the pleasure of pure beauty, in the case of Art.)
Maaaaaan, I sure hope I gave justice to Prof. Burgos' teaching. *fingers crossed*
But feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, okay?

I have zero idea to whom I should point the next credit to, 'cos I just found these tagged to my mom's Facebook account.

First round of briefing for the volunteers. Naaaaaks ang taray talaga ng mukha ko huhuhu. My signature dead stare.

Awww tulala si Xtian.
This shot is so candid, but I think it's the only picture of my mom in action. "John" is actually one of the weakest patients, very fragile, so he wasn't really able to engage in interaction for the most part. It was his birthday that day too, you know. But I really hope we made him even a bit happier through this event
With cutiepie Migo, the celebrant's son

I'm thinking of spending my 20th with something similar to this. I don't know why, but I've always wanted to visit an orphanage. Maybe because I'm a mama's & papa's girl all the same? The "I-could-never-ever-ever-afford-to-lose-my-parents-as-in-seriously-I'd-die-without-them-I'm-not-even-kidding" kind? Yes. Exactly. Maybe it's because of thaaat, and my pure intention of giving out support through the role of being a "parent" for a while.

For my next birthday, I'd probably do something "fun" (suspicious quotation marks are suspicious) to "enjoy" the last year of my being a teenager first. I haven't been exercising my imbentong "right" to become a "pain-in-the-arse" to my parents yet (well, aren't they lucky?) hahaha. Noooope, I'm not gonna try to get myself preggers, if your green-mindedness leads you to think so.

So friends, (and family -- wait, how did you find my blog?) If you're interested in organizing a similar celebration, they have parteh packages ready for volunteers like you!

Get in touch with the people from U! Happy Events to make it happen :)
I had fun, I swear. Sooo much better than partying. (...from someone who has never gone partying. hahahaha)

Again, thank you for reading up to here! I love you, reader! Hahaha I blame  excessive coffee intake for my being needy tonight.
